  1. Good morning gardening friends ! This episode is how to build a grape
trellis on a fence. Last year I was both shocked and excited to find out
grapes should be written here. Grapes are a woody vine and beed a trellis
to grow on. So I built one.

  10. Let’s see – how old will I be when Stephen enjoys his first grape from his
new trellis? Just kidding! Nice job! You’ll be eating grapes in no time.

  11. I am so glad to have found you!! Finally I have a place to go and see
relevant advice for my Zone…(3?, Grande Prairie)… see I wasn’t even
sure what zone I was, so many maps and stuff! Yay I can learn! until now
I have been stumbling in the gardens of Australia….southern
California….you know the subtropics, because we all know that Canada is
known for our subtropical climate! LOL but i do have to admit…..those
wicking beds are a pretty neat idea!

  12. Very good build! I want to try grapes at some point, when it comes to the
vines, do you prune them back all the way, or do you just prune all the
    side growth?

  14. Very good idea, Superman. Seriously, I have a vine up against my wood fence
and it is not attaching itself so I need to construct something like you
have illustrated. Thanks for the tip.

  15. Looks good Stephen, my neighbor has been growing grapes for a number of
years now on the south side of his home, they are up to the eves now.The
only issue he has is with leaf hoppers, they seem to love the grape vines.
Have you had this issue, and if so how did you deal with it. As always,
    thanks for sharing. Cheers..

  16. Very ingenious, I like that you pointed out “sturdy”, My grapes have
demolished the first lattice trellis I made them, they will test any
structure we try to build for them, Yours will work well, :)

  17. Gidday Stephen, this is really helpful for learning how to trellis grapes.
This would work well for Passion fruit too I believe!
    Thanks mate
    Happy Gardening and God Bless

  18. That is a great idea! We have a privacy fence at our other location where
I am planning perennials. Grapes grow so well in that area and I have been
wanting to plant some but did not know what to do about a trellis. This
    could be my solution.

  19. Lol +OneYardRevolution . Looks great +Stephen Legaree your garden is going
to be real nice. Good info.
